City Winery Artist Spotlight

Hey friends! We are so excited for our upcoming show! In a little over a month, we will be at City Winery for an incredible evening of music and community, all in the spirit of freedom. All proceeds from the evening will go to Thistle Farms, a local nonprofit that is doing some incredible things in the fight against sex trafficking. We wanted to take a minute and introduce you to the artists that will be performing that night!

Opening up the night will be our very own Grace Theisen. Grace is one of our co-founders here at SAS, as well as an incredibly passionate and gifted artist. Grace is a singer-songwriter who just recently moved to Nashville, TN from Michigan. She independently released her first EP in 2015, Beautiful Mercy, which reflect strong themes of sorrow, hope and faith. Through her uniquely serene, yet honestly raw vocals, she creates music that is both timeless and authentic. Her unique story of battling chronic pain and learning how to be honest through the process is captured in her latest EP, Simple + True, which will be available this June.

After working as a behavioral therapist, a saleswoman, a baker, and countless other occupations,  Jessica Martindale has landed as an artist, crafting songs with an undeniable passion, in the old-school, sweating-blood sense of the word. She is equal parts songstress and careful crafter of melody, but as she sings she creates connection—with her listener, now present in the strangeness of intimacy.  Her songs become the sowing grounds for gathering—they are an invitation to hope and strive with the tribe-building spirit of dream-chasers and risk-takers, an invitation to confront and surrender, to experience the beauty of the human heart when it opens.

Matthew Perryman Jones has a voice that calls out with intensity, truth, and emotion.  After a brief period of pursuing a career as a therapist, Jones began his music ventures in 1997 in Decatur, Georgia.  Shortly after moving to Nashville to pursue music full-time, he issued his first solo release, “Nowhere Else But Here”, in 2000.  A prolific writer, Jones has released 4 albums, and EP, several singles, and has appeared on a handful of compilations. Performing Songwriter Magazine noted Jones as a talent that follows “in the footsteps of Leonard Cohen and John Lennon.”

We are so thankful for these artists, and all of the other ones who continually partner with us to help end human trafficking. We cannot wait to share this evening with you guys! Just a quick recap:
