What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you register on the site, place an order, respond to an e-mail, or participate in another site feature. When ordering or registering, we may ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously. Like many websites, we use “cookies” to enable our website to function better and to gather general information about people visiting our website. Please refer to the “Do we use ‘cookies’?” section below for more information about cookies.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, purchase products, respond to an email, or use other site features to personalize your site experience in the following ways: to process your transaction; to allow us to better respond to your customer service requests; to send you updates, good news and product offers by email that support Songs Against Slavery and those we help. Don’t want to receive e-mail from us? We’ll be sorry to see you go, but we understand! Please refer to the “How can you can opt-out” section below.

How do we protect visitor information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. This information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a few people with access rights who are required to keep the information confidential. When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above.

Do we use “cookies”?

Yes, but these can be controlled by you! Cookies are small files that a site provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser that enable a site to recognize your browser and remember you. For instance, we use cookies to help us process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences, and compile information about site traffic so that we can offer a better website in the future. We may ask a third-party service provider to assist us in better understanding our website visitors but those providers are not permitted to use the information except to help us conduct our business. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser (like Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer) settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser Help menu to learn the correct way. If you turn cookies off, our website might not function as efficiently for you.

Do we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

Nope. Not ever. We do not sell, trade, or transfer to outside parties your personal information. The term “outside parties” does not include our business of course. It also does not include website hosting partners who assist us in operating our website, but they have to agree to keep your information confidential. And although we haven’t ever experienced this yet, we would release information if it was needed to comply with the law, or protect someone’s safety, property or rights.

How can I opt-out?

Our email communication consists of: order confirmations and special offers directly from and program newsletters about our programs and those we serve. To opt-out of newsletters, look for instructions at the bottom of the email.
